This year is just getting started, but already we've seen a lot of wonderful games! The hidden object genre has come into its own, with major games released by all of the big game developers. The magic theme topped the charts for awhile, lead by Abra Academy and Magic Academy. Variations are starting to appear, too, with games like Mystery of Shark Island deviating from just hiding objects in background paintings.
Match 3 games are alive and well, with some awesome titles like Cradle of Rome and Jewel Quest 2. We predict a number of new entries in the genre. Bejeweled Twist or Potion Motion, anyone?
There are some interesting games out so far in 2007 that defy categorization. Peggle is a great new download by PopCap Games that really shows how fun simple things can be. Wonderland Adventures continues to show that 3D games can be simple and enjoyable fun for the whole family. And Chicken Chase revitalizes the fast-clicking fun genre that Insaniquarium pioneered.
